| No discussion of violets would be complete without at least a few notes regarding hybrids. Judging by the number of hybrid taxa names that have been published over the years, hybridization within Viola would seem to be quite common. Many of the named hybrids are listed below. Many other hybrids remain unnamed. Hybrid combinations containing taxa that are unrecognized by Flora of North America*, such as Viola septentrionalis or Viola pallens are not mentioned below, regardless of whether those taxa should or should not be recognized. | ||
